Director, writer, actor, producer
Kamal Sharma’s interest in films began in his childhood; he’s been creative since his childhood through his paintings. After working in the corporate sector in the Human Resource Department for 13 years and leaving as the Head of HR of a group of five companies, he began his career in filmmaking. He spent long years in theatre; initially, he joined to strengthen his roots in direction, but he developed an interest in acting as well and initially started working as an actor. Later, he completed courses on Direction, Video Production, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Editing and Theatre & Camera Acting. He has spent long years studying world cinema, especially western cinema, starting from the era of silent movies and later the golden era of Hollywood from 1930 onwards. Later, he was deeply influenced by European cinema. According to him, the most crucial part of his entire study is his deep learning, understanding, and observation of world cinema. He admired the work and learned from some of the remarkable Italian, American, Indian, French, Swedish, Iranian, Japanese, and other great directors. He aims to create compelling global concepts and make Indian cinema more recognizable on global platform with his focus on making the most artistic, realistic, and poetic cinema for global audience. He’s currently working in the capacities of director, writer, and actor. Additionally, he used to study classical vocal and does so in his spare time.
Along with his continuous research and observation on human psychology, he has also studied the subject theoretically and continues to study it further to portray the best possible representation of human behaviour in different situations of their lives through his characters.
A list of some directors he admires, is inspired by, and shares similar thinking, working characteristics, and interests in similar themes are: Mr. Fellini, Mr. Ingmar Bergman, Mr. Satyajit Ray, Mr. Akira Kurosawa, Mr. Andrei Tarkovsky, Mr. Kieślowski, Mr. Clint Eastwood, and more, respectively.
As an actor, he has worked on feature films, short films, advertisements, television, and various theatre plays. As a director and writer, he has worked on short films, vertical series and currently working on his feature films.
One of his crime-romance-drama project (a psychological portrayal of the journey of an orphan child) aimed at a global audience is ready for production, and he’s looking for and would like to welcome individual producers, studios, and financiers to collaborate with him on this exciting journey of making world-class cinema.
Topics he wants to cover and can influence his project themes are: Human existence, human conflict, existence and influence of love on humankind,
humans at war across all levels, social issues, human greed, spirituality and enlightenment, Mahatma Buddha’s teachings, and other religions and biographies. (With the elements and in consideration with rationalism, epiphany, metaphysics and epistemology) with the sole purpose of his work being the betterment of humanity and public awareness, which comes along with entertainment.
He continues to work on his endless research about the complexity of human psychology and behaviour and the very purpose of human life itself.
His filmmaking techniques and concepts are an amalgam of filmmaking, psychology and philosophy, as he studies all three fields separately.
